Bush and God...be afraid...be very afraid

How stupid and naïve can Americans be? A recent New York Times poll found that 33% of Americans surveyed believe Saddam Hussein was linked to the terrorist attacks on 9/11. About 50% believe weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq. Oh my, is this nation in trouble.

And, if that doesn’t send a chill down your spine, consider President Bush’s comment to a group of Amish on July 9, 2004: "I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn't do my job."

Yeah, I’m sure God told Bush to invade Iraq…ooopppss, wait a minute…according to one source, Bush claims God did…

“God told me to strike at al Qaeda and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam [Hussein], which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them.” Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Abu Mazen related that Bush uttered this to him when they met in Aqaba. (reported in The Haaretz Reporter by Arnon Regular)

And I’m sure God told Bush to speak in lies regarding the Saddam Hussein and just about anything to do with Iraq…

But, we should have known what perspective the former Texas governor would embrace before he was elected president in 2001. Consider this quote from a conversation with Texas evangelist James Robinson during the 2000 presidential campaign: "I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen... I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it."

Yeah, something happened alright…and the American people and our children and grandchildren will be entrusted to try and clean up the damage for years to come…be afraid, be very afraid…
