Huckabee strikes again

If you were not scared on Mike Huckabee by now consider this:

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than trying to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family.”

What exactly are "God's standards?" In a book written by men? What Noam Chomsky called "one of the most genocidal books in history?" If such an undertaking is engaged, can you imagine what will happen if the good citizens of the United States fail to live up to the new Constitution? Let history be your guide.

One need not be religious to uphold practical, loving, Jesus-inspired standards for treating each other with respect, decency, integrity, and compassion. Of course, Ralph Waldo Emerson did observe that "Nothing astonishes men so much as common-sense and plain dealing."
